Ocean Obsession Layout

Hello Happy Scrappers

Wow, so many posts and so much to "Sea" 😆

I have made many projects these past months, and haven't had the time to add them to my Blog.

Sooo tonight I am posting and catching up.

This post is about a single page layout I made for the International ITAC '17 challenge

CHALLENGE 3 – OCEANIA

Oceania is a continent containing many low-lying islands which has been populated by countless different ETHNIC groups for many millennia. Located in the deep blue Pacific Ocean, Oceania is a continent of a thousand islands and it’s the next excursion on our tour around the world.
Whatever form your project takes, it should tell a story, be inspired from the images below, and should include at least one of the following elements;
  • Patterns inspired by traditional symbols (Maori tattoos, Dots/dashes of aboriginal Arts…)
  • Think Monochromatic black and white or think colors of the Earth.
  • Some sort of organic or natural material(s) (earth, stone, bone, bark, wood, fibres…)
  • Shapes inspired by traditional or indigenous art

I tried to incorporate as many of the elements above.

I liked the earth tones but wanted to add black elements , love the bold effect it gives.

I used shells and a piece of bark under the title, as natural materials.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to die cut the mesh/net, anchors and title.

I brushed the shells and starfish with 13@rts Gesso and highlited with Patina Victorian Gold.

I absolutely love the photos I used. I love the sea. So calming and tranquil
I used an image of the ocean in Bora-Bora and Australia - Part of the Oceania. But I had to include
an image of the English shore, as it is so beautiful as well.

I was so involved with this layout, I forgot to take photos of the steps 😉

Thank you for visiting my blog

Wish you many happy scrappy hours of crafting this weekend

Asia Serenity

Hi all you Happy Scrappers

Hope you have been having an inspired week

Todays post is a double Journal page about Asia

I had so much fun creating this project.

This project was inspired by the  INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT OF ART & CRAFT... ITAC'17!
Challenge 2 - Asia #AALL&CREATE

Requirements:
Each project (Scrapbook Layout, Card, Canvas, Art Journal, Assemblage... or any other project) for this challenge, regardless of the format or techniques used, should take inspiration from the image below and should include at least one of the following elements;

· Motifs inspired by mandalas
· Geometric shapes
· Tiles - ceramic, pantiles, glazed tiles, or their designs...
· Asiatic flowers, such as cherry blossom, chrysanthemum, orchids, lotus, Frangipani, lilies, hibiscus etc..
· Calligraphy or handwriting
· Fabric, faded or dyed
· Powdered pigments

To start this project, I used patterned paper as the background. I printed Mandala's and Chinese symbols on Tissue paper (black and brown) . I then cut these out and adhered them using 13@rts gel medium. I used stamps on the background and Circle stencil with 13@rts Modeling paste.

I printed Cherry blossoms on a branch and used Dimensional glaze on the printed image. I let this dry and then fussy cut the blossoms. I fussy cut some patterned flowers and added some more flowers.

I added my Home made Patina pastes for the powder pigment elements. The instructions for my home made patina paste can be found HERE

The photos I used were taken when we went to visit the Peace Pagoda at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes. Sooo beautiful and definately has such a tranquil feel.

Thank you for stopping by and hope you enjoyed this project

Have fun and Happy Scrappin'
