The Extra in the Ordinary

Hello Happy Scrappers

So glad you have popped in again.

It has been a really busy week but I hope you are all well and feeling inspired.

I created the layout below as a challenge with using yellow. I havent tried it before
and I worry it is too bright. But My Greatness,  I had so much fun and my family love it.

I was inspired by Lindy's Gang  May monthly colour challenge. Please click on the Image below
to see the inspiration and take part in the fun.

I wanted use the photos of my Family in SA. This is my brother, sister-in-law and our adorable
nephew - Miss them stacks and stacks.

They were wearing blue and I decided to mix it in with yellow.

I started with stamping images for the background - using  Docrafts creativity essentials Steampunk
stamp set, I used Memento - Tuxedo Black, Distress ink - Vintage photo and Ink up - Metallic blue.

I made sure the ink was dry and used Magicals - Yellow rose of Texas with a little water and inked it
through the Plaid "Square revival" stencil.

I made sure all the inks were dry (using my heat gun) and then I painted the whole page with
Clear Gesso. I then made sure this was dry using my heat gun.

I then stencilled white Gesso through the Kaisercraft Lace Doily Stencil, I dried it with my heat gun to keep it white. The longer you leave white Gesso wet over inks from pads or Sprays, it absorbs the
colours 😊

I added Lindy's Starburst sprays to add colour - Blue Hawaiin Blue and Whale Watch Blue. I added
some Magicals - Mission bells brown and spritzed with water.

I made some Foamiran flowers and coloured them with the Starburst sprays -  Blue Hawaiin Blue and Magicals - Yellow rose of Texas and Luminous Lemon. I inked the edges with Memento black ink on the blue flowers and Distress ink - Vintage photo on the yellow flowers.

I die cut some embellishments and coloured them using the same Starbust sprays, Magicals and Ink
up - Metallic blue.

I stamped sentiments from the Sara Signature Flutterby Fly Away Stamp  and printed my own

"Find the EXTRA in the Ordinary"

I finished the layout by adding the matted photos and then layering the embillishments and flowers.

To finish off  I added some glass beads with Gel medium.

Here are some close ups.......

I love the Shimmer the Metallic blue stamp ink creates.

Friday Night Fun #5 - Texture and Frame

Hello Happy Scrappers.

Hope you all having a wonderful weekend.

On the blog today is my share on Texture on a frame/Canvas block.

Check out the Video link below on a tutorial I found on this and it is brilliant.

Here is what I made

My Take on it:

I had alot of fun making this and you can use all the little mini beads / glass beads
in your stash .

I mixed a batch of glass beads - different colours with Gel medium and brushed them
onto the Canvas frame.

Once I was happy with how much was on the frame and where I placed it I let it dry and
then painted it with Heavy White Gesso.

I then sprinked Lindys' Mission Bells brown magicals and Peony Scarlet Red magicals
and spritz with water. I then dabbed the excess mix and dried with a heat gun.

I then used Lindy's shimmer sprays: Salt water taffy and Cape cod coral. I dried between
each layer of Shimmer spray I added. I added more magicals in certain places to
accentuate some areas and texture.

Once I was happy with the colours, I dry brushed some Heavy white Gesso over
the high points of the texture.

Timeless Moments

Hello All

Hope you are having a wonderful hot weekend.
Here in the UK it has been so hot and its going to get hotter.

Soo if you aint outside soaking up the sun, and by the beach,
I hope you find inspiration here today to craft craft craft this long
weekend.

Today I am sharing my single page layout I created with photos of my
Aunt and Uncle.

They visited us all the way from Cheltenham and we had an awesome time
They have been married 43 years this year ! - is that not amazing and
inspirational on its own.

And they are amazing

I started my page with some stencilling with texture paste and stamping on the
background, and used Lindy's Dye spray ink and magicals to add colour and dimension.

Lindy's Dye sprays: Cosmopolitan Pink and Blue Hawaiian Blue ( I added later and forgot
to take the photo - way too engrossed in crafting😆)

I sprinkled some Poppin Pink Magicals on the page and spritzed some water. I let it run and
colour sections of the page and then dabbed it with kitchen towel so I have light pink
and dark pink pops on the page.

I then added some torn cardboard and coloured these with Mission Bells Brown
and diluted Poppin Pink magicals to give a softer colour.

I made some Foamiran flowers and coloured these with Hobbycraft Ink Pad -
Metallic Pink and Lindy's Blue Hawaiian Blue shimmer spray - I sprayed some onto
my craftmat and added some water and used a sponge dauber to add to the foam.
I die cut some embellishments with my Cuttlebug using the Mixed media backround
metal die and Clock/gear Die.
I also die cut Dreamcatchers (from The Range - they have such a huge variety of
these little metal dies for 1 pound). I die cut leaves from the same range as the Dreamcatcher.

I added cut strips of lace ribbon and stamped Vellum and fussy cut the stamped images
out (frames and hands)

I die cut letters from the Cut & make metal die - Alphabet. I stamped these with
Rangers Patina Victorian Gold. I coloured the leaf die cuts and dreamcatcher die cuts
with the same.

I matted the photos on cardstock and distressed the edges and inked them. I glued
the matted photos onto a piece of carton to lift it.

I then layered all my embellishments and glued down my flowers.

Here are some close ups.

Our inspiration that Love and Happiness is forever.

I entered my layout into Lindy's may challenge: Please join the fun and check out the
awesome inpiration from the DT's. Please click on the image below for the details.
